A good EPOS system is only as effective as the staff using it — here’s how to train your team properly.

Start with the basics, hands-on. Let new staff practise taking and processing a few sample orders in a quiet period before they use it live during service.

Cover every order type. Make sure staff are confident with phone, walk-in, website and app orders — not just the one they’ll use most often.

Explain the “why,” not just the “how.” Staff who understand why accurate order entry matters (kitchen efficiency, customer trust) tend to make fewer careless mistakes.

Practise handling errors. Show staff how to correct a mistaken order, process a refund, or handle a customer complaint within the system — these situations will happen.

Use a simple reference guide. A one-page cheat sheet for common tasks helps new or occasional staff without needing to ask a manager every time.

Reinforce with real shifts. Pairing a new team member with an experienced one for their first few live shifts builds confidence faster than training alone.

Review and refresh periodically. Even experienced staff benefit from a refresher when new features are added or after a period of frequent mistakes.

CholoEAT provides staff training as part of setup, so your team is confident on the EPOS system from day one. Book a free demo.
